He has recently returned home from Solvalla in Stockholm where he drove harness racing spectators. But the Junior champion Patrik Sandell barley have time to unpack his bag before he’s on his way to new commissions.
In a couple of days he’s going to Norway. To keep the tempo in him self Patrik is going to drive a competition in the championship in Norway. He’ll borrow a Renault Clio group N from the Norwegian driver Petter Fauskos. A similar car as Patrik won JSM and SM with a couple of years ago. This competition contains 150 km SS in two days.
- The competition begins with recce two times, exactly like JRC. It is good preparations before the JRC continues, says Patrik Sandell.
After the competition in Norway the team is going to test their car with Renault Sport before Rally Sardinia. The tests take place in Karlstad where the team director Jonas Kruse has his facility.
- We are going to develop the breaks among other things. But we will even test some ideas that Renault Sport had after Rally Portugal, says Sandell.
- I’m very happy over the possibility to test as much as we do. Partly to develop the car, but I got more miles in the car also. That’s one of the concluding things in the end, says Patrik Sandell.
18th-20th of May it’s time for Rally Sardinia, the third competition in JRC. Patrik won on Sardinia last year.
- I know exactly what to do to take maximum points in Italia, and it’s about drive clever, as we did last year. Hopefully it’s enough to win this time too, says Sandell.
Next stop in Patrik’s schedule is the Swedish championship and South Swedish Rally in Lujngby. But Patrik is not going to compete; he will be there as an expert commentator for the TV channel Viasat.
This month ends with lectures for SBF. Patrik is one of the main characters for Winners Don’t Drink & Drive, a road show that visit schools around the country. Patrik tells about his life as rally driver and how important it is to be concentrated behind the steering wheel. Something which doesn’t works with alcohol in your body.
