Patrik Sandell and Emil Axelsson were fastest in the junior class on shakedown today before Rally Germany. But the ruling world champion doesn’t see him self as a favourite.
- It will stand between Prokop and Aava. They will drive very fast. Both have good experience of asphalt when I feel like an Italian who comes and drive the Swedish Rally for the first time, says Patrik Sandell.
And Sandell says their fast times on shakedown is more about the weather than the drivers.
- We made our fastest times when the road was dry, both Prokop and Aava drove when it was still wet. But the Renault felt very easy to drive and that’s what’s important, says Patrik.
The choice of tyre will be important because it will come more rain during the competition. But even if it will be a hard rally, Patrik is looking forward to the weekend.
- When this competition is over on Sunday, I think I’ve learned more in one weekend than I’ve done since I sat in a rally car for the first time.
Rally Germany begins tomorrow and ends at Sunday, after totally 19 SS.
