Bad start for Sandell in Spain

Patrik Sandell and Emil Axelsson are on 11th place after the first day of Rally Catalunya. Beginners on the surface and punctures sum up the day.

The WRC rally in Spain has in principle two sorts of stages. Extremely fast or extremely windings roads. Nothing between. The roads are not like any other roads in the whole WRC.
That’s why earlier experience is very important to have good luck here. And that’s what Patrik and Emil gets now.

- It’s never fun not to fight for the first place. But we knew that when we came here. We have no chance in the championship this year, so we’re here to learn for the next year, and for the next rally on asphalt, say Patrik.

- Rally can be compared to multi-sport competitions, where some are good at running and some are good at throwing. You have to do good results in your best parts, and try to develop in the other. For me it’s important to do well at the gravel- and snow rallies, and develop on asphalt. And that’s what we are doing now, curve by curve, says Patrik.

During the day Patrik and Emil’s confidence grows for each stage and the have attacked more and more. But in all three punctures have been ruined the day. The rally ends at Sunday.
